Review by Brian McLean

Poland’s Decapitated, which is considered to be one of the finer technical European death metal outfits, returns to American soil as headliners for the 31- date Summer Slaughter 2010 Tour which begins July 17 in San Diego.

The band returns to the stage after an emotional hiatus. While touring Russia in the fall of 2007, the band’s bus was involved in an accident with a lumber truck in Gomel which is on the Russia/Belarus border resulting in critical injuries for drummer Witold "Vitek" Kiełtyka and vocalist Adrian "Covan" Kowanek. Unfortunately Vitek succumbed to his injuries passing away on November 2 in a Russian hospital. Covan survived the accident but slipped into a coma. He has made progress but requires constant care 24-hours a day.

Guitarist Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka and brother of Vitek decided to continue and reformed Decapitated in 2009 with Austrian drummer Kerim “Krimh” Lechner, vocalist Rafal Piotrowski and bassist Filip “Heinrich” Halucha. The new lineup debuted on January 26, 2010 at the Mega Club in Poland on a bill with label mates Hypocrisy.

Vogg states, “After a couple years of silence, Decapitated will return to the U.S. & Canada to headline Summer Slaughter Tour 2010!!!” He added, “We will kick your asses again together with The Faceless, Cephalic Carnage, Vital Remains, and all those other amazing bands!!!  See ya guys soon and be ready for one of the loudest tour of the year!!!  Can’t wait!!!”
