As I Lay Dying
The heaviest
band on the tour, As I Lay Dying loomed with dark aura as their edgy metal
performance entertained the Milwaukee crowd. No band remotely like them
on Taste of Chaos 2006, the band shined with vigor as they defied the
odds as a pure metal band. Never letting up throughout the performance,
of particular interest was drummer Jordan Mancino pounding out rhythms
like a machine. As I Lay Dying is a must see live adding a unique flavor
to the Taste of Chaos line-up.
Deftones
Deftones began their set with “Feiticeira”
from White Pony.
The next song, “My Own Summer,” was full of technical issues with the guitar. The band had to stop the song twice due to these problems – the drummer was blatantly upset. Vocalist Chino Moreno wrapped his microphone cord around his neck as if to hang himself and said he was going to go pee while we waited. He then ran off stage and the security guard next to me said, “They better do something quick or there’s going to be a riot.”
During the technical fix, after taking a pee, Chino came back on stage and said, “It’s time for some old school gangster shit!” and then to the drummer, “Give me a beat." He then performed the “Clap Your Hands” rap from the movie Revenge of the Nerds.
When the technical problems were finally fixed the band played their Adrenaline album, circa 1995, in its entirety.
The set ended with “Change (In The House Of Flies) ” from White Pony.
